About Us
Complementary Health Advisor was founded in 2008 by Terence Watts with the assistance of Paul Fowler; Terence and Paul each bring a different set of skills to bear upon the development of the company.
Terence has long been involved in the world of complementary health, running an enormously successful private therapy practice since 1989 in Essex, UK. He has also written many books and articles on psychotherapy and hypnotherapy, and his self-therapy book, Warriors, Settlers & Nomads, published in 2000, was described by one eminent psychotherapist as 'a work of genius'. In addition to this, he has given many lectures and trainings internationally, including the USA and Asia.
In 1999, he established The Essex Institute, where students learn advanced skills in both psychotherapy and hypnotherapy, enabling them to apply the latest developments to their work with their clients. Those advanced skills include training in specific personality-related disorders and in this way graduates from the school can often provide profoundly successful therapy. In the same year, he also founded the Association for Professional Hypnosis and Psychotherapy specifically for therapists who had received exceptional training. That Association is now world-wide and boasts members not just from the UK but in many other countries including Hong Kong, India, Italy, Germany, France, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain and Australia.
For many years, Terence has specialised in psychosexual dysfunction and in 2007 was awarded the prestigious MCGI - Member of the City and Guilds Institute of London for his work in producing a specialist training course in the subject for professional therapists. As at 2008, Terence is the only member of the psychology professions to have achieved this award. In addition to holding the MCGI, he is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine and a Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health.

Be aware that complementary medicine is not alternative medicine. Complementary therapists do not seek to replace any treatment provided by conventional medicine, but rather to work alongside it.
